Brown - the subject of the book.
Being the record of the Ministry of Divine Healing of a Christian clergyman, Pastor Brown; containing abundant case histories with complete interpretations in the light of Scripture and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The healings cover a wide variety of diseases including gangrene, alcoholism, pneumonia, schizophrenia, peritonitis, epilepsy, infantile paralysis, influenza, and cancer. . Many of my readers know Starr Daily and have read his books Love Can Open Prison Doors and Release. Could any of you say that Starr Daily was good enough? A blackened criminal, with his record on every prison roster in the country, he lay in solitary confinement very near to death when the Master, Himself, came to him, looked into his eyes, and changed his life by helping him change his identity. The more inadequate we feel and the more handicaps we must overcome, the more beautiful the fruit God will bring forth when His love turns us inside out. To be inverted is to be converted. When our past is turned under and ploughed over it becomes fertile soil for God's growth. In his prayer of re-dedication Starr Daily acknowledges, When I am willing to let Thee change my within, I shall have victory over my without. |

The Lord Bishop of Worchester, England, wrote about Starr Daily in 1947(1), we quote, The story of an embittered convict in jail and the transformation that came to him through the love of God...Nothing from the pen of Starr Daily is ordinary. Starr's Pauline prison experience illuminates the reality of seeking after God. He states, the idea of seeking God fades on the film of our consciousness' and this idea, long held and fostered by men, is as false as the beard of Hercules. It is God who is doing the seeking. It is Christ Jesus who searches for the lost sheep; those sheep lost in the woods of senseless direction and moving about in fruitless circles. Starrs' revelation continues as he states, when we cease seeking our way, God has already manifested himself through LOVE. His love, whether we know it or not, begat all our love. Our love of God....is but letting Him Love us. L ove Can Open Prison Doors by Starr Daily is a ninth Edition, October, 1947 hardbound book Published by Willing Publishing Company, Los Angeles, the book has 144 pages. The personal history of the author of this book reads like a fairy tale. Coming under the influence of a master criminal at the age of 12, he became one of the problems of the police world and was condemned to prison, where for fourteen years he was a recurring inmate. This book recounts the actual experiences of a man who had fallen to the very depths of human degradation, a man whose life has been steeped and molded in crime and violence. Finally confined like a caged animal behind prison doors and subjected to the rigid discipline of prison life, the author's rebellious spirit resulted in his frequent confinement in the prison dungeon, the hell-hole, where his only companion was his twisted and distorted thoughts. Thus left alone with his own miscreations, he soon found himself the center of a terrific battle as a dawning light began to penetrate his befogged consciousness. Needless to say, as the light of understanding descended upon his vision he became aware of a transformation taking place both within and without, for how can darkness remain in the presence of Light? Interwoven with this true story of how Love actually opened prison doors and gave him his freedom, the author vividly portrays the soul-gripping experiences of a life that found itself, how step by step his new understanding was applied and how it literally worked miracles for him, even to opening prison doors of steel .

...His lips moving as though in prayer. He stopped near me eventually and stood looking down. I had never seen such love in human eye; I had never felt so utterly enveloped in love. I seemed to know consciously that I had seen and felt something that would influence my life throughout all eternity.16 It is interesting that Daily had often dreamed as a child of meeting Jesus in the same garden environment, but had gradually forgotten the experiences. Significantly, Daily follows a largely forgotten age-old Christian tradition in regarding the dream as an acceptable avenue for directly encountering the Christ. Daily went on from this experience to author numerous books on the healing power of faith in Christ.
