In Boston, in 1905, there arose a movement the purpose of which was to obtain a collaboration between doctors and ministers. It was done at the Emmanuel Church and called The Emmanuel Movement by the press. This pioneering work was of importance for it recognized at the same time the value of science and religion in the cure of body, mind and spirit, and sought to use both in the art of healing. The book RELIGION AND MEDICINE describes this work and was important in the treatment of alcoholism which is covered in a number of pages. Also a nice appendix and cross-reference
