Volume contains a number of papers written with CIA support under the notorious MKULTRA mind Control program, and other programs like MKNAOMI, some run by Dr. Sidney Gottlieb with the unqualified support of his mentor, Richard Helms. The editor of this volume, Harold A. Abramson was a CIA contract agent connected to the suicide death of Dr. Frank Olson. Dr. Olson plunged to his death in New York after secretly being slipped LSD under the aegis of a CIA mind control program. John Marks in his book, "The Search For the Manchurian Candidate", writes, "After a hurried conference, [Robert] Lashbrook (the man in the room with Olson when he plunged to his death) and [Sidney] Gottlieb decided to send Olson to Dr. Harold Abramson in New York. Abramson had no formal Training in psychiatry and did not hold himself out to be a psychiatrist. He was an allergist and immunologist interested in treating problems of the mind. Gottlieb chose him because he had a TOP SECRET CIA security clearance and because he had been working with LSD---under Agency contact---for several years." A number of others who did work for the CIA in MKULTRA and other clandestine programs have articles in this volume.
