Understanding
and Counseling the Alcoholic by Howard J. Clinebell, Jr.
(ENTIRE BOOK)
This book is written for the person, professional or
lay, who wishes to apply religious resources more effectively to the problem
of alcoholism. It deals with what to teach concerning alcoholism and how to
handle the alcoholic who comes seeking counsel.
A
Guide to Understanding the Bible by Harry Emerson Fosdick
(ENTIRE BOOK) A clear and helpful explanation of the development of key
ideas within the Old and New Testament including the idea of God, man, right and
wrong, suffering, paryer and immortality
Emerson
Fosdick(ENTIRE BOOK) The fictional character of Ted Brown represents a
young man who comDear
Mr. Brown: Letters to a Person Perplexed about Religion by Harryes from a religious background, who is seriously trying to
work out an intelligent philosophy of life, is sensitive to spiritual
values, and who seeks a vocation where he can make the most of his best for
the sake of others. This is not an attempt to give an answer those totally
apart from a religious background -- beatnik contemporaries for
example, that would consider Ted Brown a square.
Twelve
Tests of Character by Harry Emerson Fosdick
(ENTIRE BOOK) Some fundamental tests of character which our new
generation is tempted to forget. With many schemes for the world’s
salvation, everything rests back on integrity and driving power in personal
character.
The
Sermon on the Mount by Roger Shinn(ENTIRE BOOK)
The author shows why the Sermon on the Mount has
proved to be one of the most influential parts of the entire New Testament.
Excellent book for those without a strong biblical and theological
background.
The
Sermon on the Mount by Joachim Jeremias
(ENTIRE BOOK) Does the Sermon on the Mount lay down rigid rules
that Christians must follow, or is it only a standard to reveal human sin?
Did Jesus mean it should be taken literally? Dr. Jeremian explains simply
and clearly how the sermon came to be, and its contemporary relevance.

about Leo Black
Cleaning House Dec. 15
By contributing editor Leo Back "Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain ...” King Solomon, son of
the great King David, wrote these words. How well he knew them to be true as he tore
down all that God had built up in Israel, following after the gods of his many wives. He
knew first hand that if God wasn’t in the building process, the workers were simply
wasting their time.
Step #9 -- That You May be Healed Nov. 15
By contributing editor Leo Back
We have two areas to address before we move on to Step 9. We should make amends
to God, and ourselves. This is a perfect moment to simply lay our relationships -- past,
present, and future -- down on the altar and ask God to heal, restore, and
forgive us for our part in them. Not only that, but to consecrate our relationships to Him, that from
this time on, God will be glorified in them.
Step #8 -- Be Reconciled Oct.16
By contributing editor Leo Back
As we have looked at 1 - 7 of the steps toward wholeness, our main focus has been
vertical relationship -- God toward us, and us relating back to God. The main focus of
steps 8 and 9 changes to horizontal relationships -- us relating to others, and others to
us. In fact, now it's time to examine the harm we may have caused others through our
life-controlling problems.
